Together with DWIDP, landslide risk assessment and prevention measures are assessed for the Jure landslide, Sindhupalchowk, Nepal.
Landslide rockfall risk assessment
We study the relationships between climate change and landslides, putting into practice techniques that assess risks, and provide prevention measures. Pictured is a ground deformation map of a rock slope destabilised as a result of glacial retreat.
Climate change and landslides
We assess risks of mud and debris flow, flash floods and GLOFs, model hazard scenarios and develop monitoring and early warning systems for protecting exposed communities. Pictured is a displacement map of a landslide initiating a debris flow. Measured displacement rate is 1.9 cm per minute.
